Exodus 3-4 God has been looking for "problem people" to do His work throughout history. When God does amazing things through weak people, He shows that He deserves the glory. Moses was a classic case... the charter member of the Loser's Club. He had flaws and plenty of excuses why God should choose someone else, and all of them were accurate, but God chose Moses anyway, just like He chooses you and I.

Acts 9:1-25 To those early followers of The Way, Saul would have been viewed on the same level we view a terrorist... the worst... going door to door hunting down his enemies with authority from the government. Yet God chose him to become the most important of apostles, carrying the good news of Jesus to a large part of the Roman world. We too have been chosen, no matter how unlikely it may seem.

Acts 6-7 We don't hear about Stephen until he is a disciple under consideration to be a deacon, but he receives a glowing description from Luke. He allowed God to rule and direct his life, even in the face of controversy. We see at his death that Jesus was proud of him... how will we respond in our controversies? Will Jesus be proud or disappointed?

Psalm 51 At first glance David seems like the ultimate winner in the Bible... family line, giant slayer, greatest king, etc. Yet, one bad decision led to more bad decisions, and his loser status was cemented. We see David's brokenness in Psalm 51, and as with the other losers, God uses this posture to save sinners like us.

Luke 7 God has a knack for using ordinary people to demonstrate His greatness. In Luke 7 we see five random ordinary non-religious people become part of eternal history through their interactions with Jesus. We too should have a "Jesus Story" to tell that can change the lives of non-believers in our lives.

Ephesians 1:3-14 As we finish the series about Losers we look forward to Christmas, and our final topic begins with the genealogy of Jesus in Matthew 1. We see generations of losers, including these women, where God included and worked through these people despite their sin. When we come to know Jesus, it is out with the old and in with the new, with the promise of great things to come once we join His family.
